French Style Garden
The French passion for beauty and orderliness is reflected in their gardening style. Through the ages, French style garden has been based on a focal point, be it a building or a pond, with the garden radiating from it on all sides. A French style garden is an extremely formal garden that makes use of geometric shapes. French gardens are highly organized and have neatly trimmed shrubbery and formal garden beds with pathways between them. A nice touch in a French style garden is the placement of interesting objects that give the garden a personal touch. Examples of this include statues, urns, baskets, wrought iron pieces, old watering cans, old weathered wooden chairs, large interesting stones or anything that will say something about who designed the garden. Not only do ornaments add interest during the growing season, but they extend the visual life of a garden well into the winter months when the ground is covered with snow.
